Condolences
I have had the pleasure of knowing Leonard both personally and professionally for most of my life and I have never met a more gentle, compassionate, and kind man, feelings echoed by all who knew him. It was always a pleasure listening to his humorous stories and anecdotes and he will undoubtedly be missed by the many people he has touched over the years. From hanging out with Kevin in high school, working with Mark in University, Leonard guiding me during my applications to Medical School, working with Leonard in the OR, having both Gail and Leonard as patients, the memories and smiles are too many to mention. My deepest sympathies and condolences to all of you during this difficult time, especially in lieu of Gail's recent passing. God bless all of you.

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with your father during my 40yr nursing career. The last few years we worked closely together in Geriatric Medicine. My respect for him grew greater(if possible) during that time. His caring ,compassion, support and respect for not only the patients and their families that we worked with but also for the staff was always evident. His office door was always open for any of us who just needed to talk !! Will always remember his smile as he talked about his fishing and summers on the Peninsula.
Thinking of you all at this difficult time

Len was a special person. He gained my admiration as I began my medical career in 1982 and was a calming influence for a new graduate intern in a world where chaos can rule at times ! I always respected Len as a clinician and as a genuine human. In later years as he wound down his practice we shared many of his stories of himself working in Montreal as a resident...I never grew tired of hearing Len share his life..he was an interesting man. My condolences to the Higgins family

As you know because you are all parents ,Aunts &Uncles...you take stock, look back at the your family that has been raised using ever fiber of your soul... Len & Gail are together now doing this.... they are so proud! Keep their life lessons close and love each other.. They have taught us all; it's not what you take with you when you leave this world it's what you've left behind..Dr.Higgins made you want to try to be the best you could be, simply by how he led his life. What a role model! I will cherish my memories!Patti

I cannot say, and I will not say
That he is dead. He is just away.
With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand,
He has wandered into an unknown land
And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be, since he lingers there.
And you - oh, you, who the wildest yearn
For an old-time step, and the glad return,
Think of him faring on, as dear
In the love of There as the love of Here.
Think of him still as the same. I say,
He is not dead - he is just away.

With Deepest Sympathy on the death of Dr. Leonard Higgins and Mrs. Higgins...
I am sure it helps with your loss...knowing your Mom & Dad are together again...
Dr. Higgins was such a pleasant, soft spoken, gentle, caring, genuinely professional, wonderful and dedicated doctor and surgeon...
It was always a pleasure to work with him...
We missed him on his retirement...but he was then giving his care and assistance to other patients...
He was always so friendly...seemed to remember his earlier colleagues many years later...
I always admired him and his work and his ethics...
May God give you strength during this difficult time...
Remembering you in thought and prayer...
Remembering Dr. L. M. Higgins with great fondness...
My Condolences to the family and friends and colleagues who deeply mourn his loss...

I have known Len since our entry into McGill Medical School in 1957. We played on the Faculty hockey team together, with Len being a very good defenceman. After graduation we rented an apartment together With Peter Howland and Carl Hansen. All four of us continued to play sports in our spare time. When there was a party at the apartment Len invariably entertain us with a New Brunswick folk song. He was a caring and dedicated physician who will be sorely missed by his old roommates and classmates.
