Bernadette "Nickie" Nora Northrup

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bernadette Nora Northrup, wife of George Stanley Northrup, announces her peaceful passing which occurred on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  She was born on September 22, 1932 to the late Nicholas Anthes and Catherine Evans. 

Nickie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, her family meant the world to her.  She was famous amongst her family and friends for her baking and culinary skills, always making sure everyone was taken care of and well fed, her door was open to all and she will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband George, Bernadette is survived by her sons: George Jr (Cindy) Northrup and Gary Northrup, both of Saint John, her daughters: Catherine (James) Tays of Bloomfield Ridge, Cora Bourque of Surrey, BC, Carmel (Richard) Frauley, Carolanne (Brian) McGivery, Cynthia Northrup and honourary daughter Robbi-Leigh O’Dell all of Saint John, her numerous grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren along with  many members of her extended family and friends.

Besides her parents, Bernadette was predeceased by her son Glenn. 

The family wishes to extend their utmost gratitude to the entire staff of the MICU.  The compassion and care that was given will not be forgotten.

Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John (634-1965) where visitation will be held on Sunday and Monday, February 28 & 29 from 2-4 and 6-8.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. John the Baptist Parish, 54 Broad Street on Tuesday March 1 at 12:05 pm with interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
