Florence "Flo" Mildred (Dobbin) Hakkers

It is with appreciation for a life well-lived that the family of Florence "Flo" Hakkers (Dobbin) announces her passing, which occurred on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on August 6, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Muriel (MacAllister) Jones.

Flo was a loving and devoted mother whose family meant the world to her. She looked forward to family gatherings where she could she could show off her excellent cooking skills, spend time with people she loved, and play with her grandchildren. She was a kind-hearted woman who always helped those less fortunate. She had a heart of gold, and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. Her compassion and caring for others showed through her chosen profession as a nurse. She also owned and operated Roma Anko Manor in Long Creek for over 20 years.

Flo will be missed by her children: Donald Dobbin (Kathie), Timothy Dobbin (Barb), Peter Dobbin, Keith Dobbin (Susanne), Wendy Beshara (Fred), Victoria Cassidy (Danny); 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; her siblings, Gladys, Georgie, Barb and Fred; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Flo was predeceased by: her first husband, Allen S. Dobbin; her second husband, Arie H. B. Hakkers; three grandsons, Stephen, Jack and Aaron; a brother, Alison and two sisters, Shirley and Dora.

Arrangements are under the care of Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John (634-1965). In keeping with Flo's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service for her family and friends will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 2:00 at St. Luke's Anglican Cemetery, Gondola Point. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to any charity of the donor's choice.
