George Stanley Northrup Sr.
It is with heavy hearts that the family of George Stanley Northrup Sr., husband of the late Bernadette Nora (Evans) Northrup, announces his peaceful passing which occurred on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Tucker Hall Shannex Parkland. He was born on August 25, 1932 to the late Stanley and Alice (Shoebridge) Northrup.
George was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was employed for 45 years as a Stevedore worker and raised his family in the south end of the city. A Maple Leafs fan for his entire life, George was an avid sports lover, coaching several winning baseball teams and was a familiar face at the hockey rinks supporting his sons. He enjoyed his Monday night card games with his daughter Carol and son-in-law Brian and new found friends at the Shannex.
He is survived by his son: George Jr (Cindy) Northrup of Saint John, his daughters: Catherine (James) Tays of Bloomfield Ridge, Cora Bourque of Surrey, BC, Carmel (Richard) Frauley, Carolanne (Brian) McGivery, Cynthia Northrup and honourary daughter Robbi-Leigh O’Dell all of Saint John, his numerous grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren along with many members of his extended family and friends.
Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his sons: Glenn and Gary; his brother Murray and his sister Inez Teal
Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John, NB (634-1965) with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday, November 29 and 30, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. John the Baptist Parish, 54 Broad Street on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 12:05 pm. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
