Irene Mary Richard

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Irene Mary (Casey) Richard wife of the late Edward Joseph Ernest Richard, which occurred on Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on October 13, 1920 she was a daughter of the late Gilbert and Philomene (Goguen) Casey. Irene is survived by one daughter, Elaine Gorman (William) of Ohio; one brother, Norman Casey (Eleanor) of Saint John; three sisters, Edmee Brideau of Saint John, Yvonne Nordstrom of St. Stephen, Eva Stephens of Toronto; three grandchildren, Gordon Richard, Erin Gorman (Kemper) and Joe Gorman; six great-grandchildren, Joe Gorman Jr., Bailey Gorman, Tyler Gorman, Cecelia Kemper, Liam Richard and Christina Kemper; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by one brother, Gilbert; three sisters, Edith, Theresa, Mary “Nunny” and good friend, Jack Gillespie.

Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John, NB (634-1965), with visiting on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 12:10 pm. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances to the Cathedral Restoration and Waterloo Village Revitalization Projects or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
