Morrisey Mary Margaret “Peg” – The death of Margaret Morrisey occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on June 27, 2014 at the age of 94. Born in Saint John on October 3, 1919 she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Laura Morrisey. Margaret was a member of the CWL and previously a long standing parishioner of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Margaret graduated from St. Vincent’s Girls High School in 1936 and from Modern Business College in 1938. On the 1st of August 1945, she was awarded a Certificate of Service from the British Admiralty Technical Mission for war time service. After the war she worked for her father at Morrisey’s Grocery Store located at 33 Queen Street, West Saint John. She loved taking photographs and enjoyed volunteering at the museum on Douglas Avenue. Margaret never married and has no children but was close to her nephew Daniel who corresponded with her regularly. In addition to Daniel, she is also survived by several nieces and one nephew. Predeceased by her brother Thomas Morrisey, one sister Elizabeth Lavoie and one nephew Thomas Morrisey.
Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street (634-1965) with visiting on Wednesday July 2, 2014 from 10:00am-12:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at 12:10pm followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
