It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Edith (Legacy) (Mrs Stagg) Bennett of Saint John, NB, wife of Harold Bennett which occurred on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Bathurst, NB she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Delima (Arsenault) Legacy. Edith’s life revolved around her husband and loving family. Her enjoyment was family events, ice fishing, bingo, playing cards, picking berries camping, and was young at heart. Besides her husband she is survived by her children: Stephen Stagg (Marilyn), Shirley O'Brien (Donald), Carol Long, Barbara Cogswell (Rick), Wayne Stagg (Judy), and Marilyn Somers (Donald); sister: Jeannette Cormier (Donat); grandchildren: Raymond, Darren, Billy, Tracey, Jason, Peter, Jennifer, David, Kimberly, Angela, David, Richard, John, Ryan, James, Catherine, Christine, and Joshua; 44 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and first husband, John Stagg she was predeceased by brothers: Herbert, Theodore, Edgar and Arthur sisters: Rita Belliveau, Yvonne Kruky, Loretta Thibodeau, and Louis Legacy.

Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John, NB, (634-1965) with visiting on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 and Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from Stella Maris Church at 12 Noon. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the Children’s Wish Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
