SR. Jannette Girard

The death of Sister Marie Rosina Jannette Girard(Sister Fleurette)of Saint John occurred on Tuesday September 23, 2014 at Ruth Ross Residence. Sister Jannette was born in Edmonton, AB, a daughter of the late Hector A. Girard and Blanche (Sequin) Girard.Jannette entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception in 1948. She served as a cook, seamstress and housekeeper at Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception Missions in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.Sister also cared for babies at the Infants Home in Saint John and older children at St. Patrick's Orphanage in Prince Albert.Before returning to Saint John in 2005 she worked among the poor in Edmonton.Sister Jannette recently resided at Ruth Ross Residence.She is survived by her sister, Cecile DeWick; brothers, Ray Girard of Langley, BC, Dennis Girard of Chilliwack, BC and Maurice Girard of Ashcroft, BC. Also survived by 5 nieces, 10 grand-nieces; 5 nephews and 6 grand-nephews. Predeceased by brother Rolland Girard.Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25 from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm at Ruth Ross Residence. Prayer Vigil will be Thursday at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 26 at 10:00 am in Carmel Chapel, Ruth Ross Residence followed by interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
