M.Gail Higgins

1941-2015

M.Gail Higgins
Higgins Mary Gail –Surrounded by her loving family, Gail passed away peacefully on Monday May 11, 2015. She is survived by her husband, Len, sons; Sean (Deborah), Mark (Laurie) and Kevin, daughters; Kerry (Rick), Anna-Lise (Brant), twelve grandchildren; Adam, Brittany, Samm, Geoffrey, Brad, Matthew, Kate, Christopher, Sean, Alex, Michael, and Cara, many cherished nieces and nephews, brothers; Peter and David, sisters-in-law; Sheila and Virginia, brother-in-law; Bob, and a number of dear friends. She was predeceased by her sons; Geoffrey and Christopher, sisters-in law; Rosemary and Dorothy, brothers-in-law; Tom, Don and niece; Caroline.
Gail was the daughter of Gordon and Maizie (Mary St. James) McLewin. She was born in Toronto and raised and educated in Windsor, Ontario where she lived until her graduation as a registered nurse. Her career as a practicing nurse lasted only a few years. As her family grew, life inside the home became the job and joy of her life. Through the years she volunteered for church and school activities, became involved with peace and justice issues and did a little writing. As grandchildren came along, the fun of three generations of family living, especially their summers together on Long Reach became the treasured moments of her life. As Mom once wrote, “Sharing these precious times with Len- carpenter, fisherman, political junkie, hilarious partner and best friend made it extra-special. All in all it’s been a great ride!”.
The family wish to thank all the doctors, nurses and hospital staff at the Regional Hospital for their compassion and professionalism. And in particular Dr. Brian Craig, Dr. Grey from Oncology, Dr. Wildish and the extra Mural team.
In lieu of donations Gail has asked all to “pay it forward” and those who are able to sign their organ donation cards or register at www.cantransplant.ca
