It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Francis Brown of Saint John, beloved husband of Lois Mary (Biddiscombe) Brown announces his passing, which occurred peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Saint John Regional Hospital with family at his side.  Born in Saint John on September 13, 1920, he was the son of the late G. During World War II Jack served in the Royal Canadian Navy and prior to his retirement he was employed as a Customs Officer with Canada Customs, retiring on September 13, 1985 with over 40 years of dedicated service.  He devoted his life to taking care of his family and treasured the times spent with those he loved.  Jack was a devote Catholic and took great comfort in his faith.  He was a true gentleman who always extended a helping hand to anyone in need.  Jack was an avid reader and gardener who also enjoyed horse racing and all sports, especially baseball.  He will lovingly be remembered as a devoted husband, family man and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his cherished wife of 61 years, Jack is also survived by his children, Paul Brown of Saint John, Mike Brown (Leah) of Mahone Bay, NS and Sharon Sudsbear (Tom) of Oromocto; brother, Mike Brown of Saint John; sisters, Olive Brown of Saint John and Margaret McGarrity of Peterborough, ON; special grandchildren, Victoria "Vicky", Grant, Catherine and Adam; precious great-granddaughter, Marlee; several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by brothers, William "Bill" and Patrick "Pat"; as well as sisters, Constance "Connie", Rhona, Eileen, Elizabeth "Betty" and Mary.

The Brown family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Cory Shea for the much appreciated assistance and most of all his friendship.  A special thank you to Sandra Hicks, Ann White and all of Jack’s caretakers from We Care for the excellent care that was always provided to him.  Also, to the doctors and staff of 3CS and 3BN at the SJRH; especially Mary Jane from Palliative Care and Dr. Ashley Wood, your guidance and support shown towards Jack and our family will never be forgotten.  To everyone who has helped care for and support Jack and our family, your love and kindness will always be held dear to our hearts.
