Rita M. Hogan
HOGAN-the death of Rita M. Hogan, widow of Edward J. Hogan,
occurred at Rocmaura Nursing Home on Friday, July 9, 2010, following a
period of failing health. Rita was born in St. Martin's, a daughter of
the late Francis and Lily (Wood) O'Hara. She was a graduate of St.
Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing and had practiced at St. Joseph's,
Lancaster D.V.A., Centracare, and the Mental Health Clinic as well as
in Montreal and British Columbia. She had been a member of the
Catholic Family Movement; the Catholic Women's League; and the Legion
of Mary. She is survived by two sons, Edward J. of Toronto, and
Francis J. of Saint John; one daughter, Mary Campbell (Allan) of Saint
John; one brother, John J. O'Hara of St. Martin's; one
daughter-in-law, Ann Chappell of Saint John; four grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She will be
remembered for her strength, guidance, and sense of humour and will
always be missed.
A private family service was
conducted by Rev. Michael LeBlanc at Fitzpatrick's Chapel with Marlene
Cyr as organist and soloist.
The lay-readers were Fred Hazel
and William Bastarache.
The active pallbearers were Hugh
Fitzpatrick, Mark Trecartin, Colin Hogan, Francis O'Hara, Allan
Campbell, and Larry O'Hara. The honourary pallbearers were Pat
Montague, Charles O'Hara, and Fred Whelan.
Numerous floral and spiritual
tributes were received from relatives and friends.
A donation to Rocmaura Foundation
Inc. was received from the Board of Directors, Management, and Staff
of Rocmaura Nursing Home.
A donation to the John T. McMillan
Memorial Foundation was received from Friendly's Convenience, Millidge
Ave.
Donations were also received to
Sleeping Children Around the World; Romero House-Soup Kitchen; the
Shriners' Children's Hospitals; the Kidney Foundation of Canada; and
St. John the Baptist Building Fund.
Interment
took place in St. Joseph's Cemetery with prayers at the grave by . In
lieu of flowers, donations to Rocmaura Foundation Inc. would be
appreciated.
