Dr Louis M Simon

SIMON, Dr. Louis M- The death of Louis M. Simon, husband of the late Carol A. (Keating) Simon occurred at his residence on Friday July 8, 2011. Lou was born in Saint John, a son of the late Louis M. (Si) and Frances (Donovan) Simon. A lifelong resident of the city, he graduatedfrom St. Malachy's High School in 1956, and a former President of the alumni. He attended St Francis Xavier University and then graduated from Dalhousie Medical School in 1964. Lou was a family physician in Saint John and was employed with Workers Compensation. He later became the Medical Director of the Saint John General Hospital as well as the Saint John Regional Hospital until his retirement in 1997. He was an active member of the Saint John Lebanese Community, and was always active in the Saint John sports community as a player, beloved coach, and administrator, and president of the Central Minor Hockey League. He was a member of Riverside Golf and Country Club. Louis enjoyed his residence in Florida, traveling the world with Carol, and summers at the cottage with the grandchildren.
He is survived by five sons, Dr. Michael (Anne), David (Karen) both of Saint John, John (Kellie) of Quispamsis, Scott of Saint John, and Mark (Susie) of Hampton; one daughter Cathy (Ian) Wilson of Saint John; seventeen grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church Wednesday at 11:00. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations to charity of choice would be appreciated.
