Helen Lenihan

Lenihan, Helen A. … Surrounded by her family, the death of Helen Agnes Lenihan of Saint John, wife of the late Thomas Lenihan, occurred on Monday, May 14, 2012 at her residence, at the age of 101. Born in Damascus on March 3, 1911, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Marcella (O’Brien) Maguire.

Helen was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 17 years. She was a member of the CWL and the Miraculous Metal Society.

Survived by her sons, Joseph (Marijke) and Brian, both of Saint John; daughter, Theresa Furlong of Saint John, ten grandchildren, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and godchildren.


In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Herbert Maguire; sisters, Kay Dawson, Marcella McGassic and Mable Murphy and son-in-law, Roland Furlong.

Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John (634-1965) with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 … 4 and 7- 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 9:00AM. Interment to take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Golden Grove.
