Sister Eleanor Anne Magee

The death of Sr. M. Anne Magee of Saint John occurred at the Ruth Ross Residence on Monday October 15th 2012. She was born in Saint John and was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (Winslow) Magee.

Eleanor entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on January 6, 1930. Sister Eleanor taught grade one from 1939 to 1973 at St. Vincent’s Girls School and St. Joseph’s School in Saint John. Along with her teaching she served as Sacristan at the Cathedral and taught catechetics at the Assumption Parish. She was a Spiritual Director for twenty six years, thirteen years at Villa Madonna Retreat House. Sister moved to Ruth Ross Residence in 2006 where she celebrated 80 years of her religious profession on January 6, 2010.

She was predeceased by her sisters; Mrs. Margaret Sincennes, Ms. Constance Magee, Louise Magee, SCIC and Jean Magee, SCIC, and her brothers; Father Patrick Magee, Winslow Magee, Donald Magee and a brother who died in infancy.

Resting at Ruth Ross Residence with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, with a Prayer Vigil that evening at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Ruth Ross Residence, Carmel Chapel on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Interment to take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements under the care and direction of Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John (634-1965).
