Matthew William Horgan

It is with great sadness that the family of Matthew William Horgan wishes to announce his sudden passing on May 22, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on October 24, 1997, he was a son of Gregory and Sharon Horgan. Matthew bravely lived with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and was an honours student at St. Malachy’s Memorial High School. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and especially enjoyed watching Saturday night hockey with the Merzetti family in his second home.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, James Horgan and Bradley Belyea; his paternal grandmother, Marjorie Horgan; Aunts and Uncles Russell and Louise (Lyons) Belyea, Anita Belyea, Barry and Gail (Belyea) Freeze, Stephen and Cathy (Belliveau) Belyea, Richard and Cindy (Hall) Belyea, Gary Belyea (Monique) and Cathy Horgan; as well as many relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather James Horgan; maternal grandparents Eugene Belyea and Frances Belyea; and paternal uncle Robert Horgan.

Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John, NB (634-1965) with visiting on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. John the Baptist Church on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Muscular Dystrophy Canada would be appreciated by the family.
