B. Ronald Doucet
1920-2014
<p>The death of Ron Doucet occurred at the Ridgewood Veterans
Wing on Wednesday February 12, 2014 in his 94th year. He was born in
Bathurst, NB the husband of the late Barbara U. (Shea) Doucet and was
a son of the late J. Benedict and Ethel M. (Comeau) Doucet. Ron began
his military career enlisting in the Army in 1939 until 1945 during
which time he served overseas for 2 ½ years in UK, France,
Belgium, Holland and Germany. He continued with the reserves rising to
the rank of Lt. Col. Commanding Officer of 31st Service Battalion
(Saint John). Ron was a long-time member of St. Pius X Parish and a
life time Member of Legion Branch # 14 & # 64. He also served
on the Board of Governors of the Corp. of Commissionaires, the Last
Post Fund and volunteered with many organizations. He is survived by
Brian Doucet of Guelph Ont.; Barbara "Ginger" (Robert)
Tremblay of Rockwood, Ont.; Terrence (Heather) Doucet of Montreal, QC
and Kevin Doucet of Vancouver, BC. Also survived by sisters Teresa
(Ron) Corbin of Saint John, NB; Irene Kennedy of Burnaby, BC; five
grandchildren: Amy (Michael) Schuster, Heidi Doucet, Jason Doucet,
Alan Doucet and Sylvie Tremblay as well as three great grandchildren:
Cameron Doucet, Ben Schuster and Natalie Schuster. In addition to his
wife and parents Ron was predeceased by one brother Brian Doucet and
one sister Helena Bent. Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral
Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John, (634-1965) with visiting on
Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday 2:00 – 4:00 and
6:00 – 8:00 PM. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service will
be held Monday at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from St. Pius X, 316
Somerset Street, at 9:00 AM followed by interment in St.
Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations to the Romero House or a
charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated by the
