Kenneth C. "Ken"  Layden
<p>Kenneth Clement Layden The passing of Kenneth (Ken) Clement Layden occurred at 2:45 pm on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Loch Lommond Villa, Saint John, NB. Ken was born October 3, 1921 in Goshen, NB. He was a son of Ervin Dominic Layden and Bridget Catherine (Breen) Layden. Ken moved to Saint John in 1945 and worked for three years at General Dairies, before moving to General Bakeries, where he remained until his eventual retirement from the position of Sales Supervisor. In his younger years Ken loved hunting and fishing. He never lost his love for Goshen and visited as recently as this past summer. Survived by his daughter Margie Layden-Oreto (Tony) of Fredericton, his sons Ken Layden (Maureen) of Fredericton, Richard Layden (Ruth) of Montreal, Peter Layden (Crystal) of Moncton, his sister Sr. Virginia Layden of Saint John, his brother Fr. Donald Layden CSC of Welland ON, seven grandchildren, Daniel Stevenson (Sara), Jason Oreto (Sarah), Christine Layden, Michael Stevenson, Kathleen Oreto, Matthew Layden, and David Layden (Sarah), three great grandchildren, Ben, James and Sam Stevenson and Evelyn Connors Layden, mother of his children. Ken was predeceased by his daughter Honourable Carolyn Layden-Stevenson, his grandson Brendon Layden Oreto, his brothers Edward, Pat, Thomas, Augustine and sisters, Agnes Layden, Mary Layden Walsh, Genevieve DuBois, Sr. Margaret Layden and Rita Bowland. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John, NB, with visiting Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 12:10. Interment will take place at the South Branch Catholic Cemetery, Mechanic, NB. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Kenneth Clement Layden to the "Carolyn Layden-Stevenson Bursary Fund", by phone (506 452 0645) or by mail (St. Thomas University, 51 Dineen Drive, Fredericton, NB, E3B 5G3), or the "Brendon Oreto Foundation", by mail (163 Robby's Road, Nasonworth, NB, E3C 1M2), or to a charity of your choice.</p>
