Edgar Joseph Chase
Surrounded by his family, Edgar J. Chase went to be with his Lord, July 14, 2014, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a short period of failing health.
Born in Saint John, NB, March 03, 1927, he was the son of Joseph and Isabella Chase. He is survived by his wife, Inez Chase (Billingsley), his children: Caroyln Watters (Tom) Saint John, Diane Pawson (Hal) Saint John, Ann Marie Dixon (Dave) Rothesay, Gordon Chase (Dici) Quispamsis, Mark Chase (Shelley) St. Andrews. Stepchildren: Cindy Hatty (Terry) PEI, Lindy Mantin (Pat) Toronto ON, Chris Clayton (Ann) Saint John, Kim Stubbs Greer (Tim), twelve grandchildren: Angela & Tom Watters, David James (Sophie) & Jordy Joseph MacKay, Sarah (Barry) & Keith (Tiffany) Dixon, Trevor, Carter, Mark, Dylan & Carly Chase, Ben Chase, Chelsey Mantin. Great-grandchildren: Chase Dixon & Claire Dixon Also survived by one brother, Walter of Ottawa. Predeceased by brothers Leonard & Ernie, and sisters, Beatrice Ramsey & Alice Wiggins. Edgar retired March 1992 from the Saint John Shipbuilding after 42 years of service in the steel department. He held many positions from labourer to steel supervisor in the assembly shop. Edgar was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent many hours on the lake and in the woods, bringing home food for his family. Edgar was a licensed guide spending much time fishing on the Miramichi at the Gunters farm. He was a past member of the Beaver Lake Fishing Club and dedicated many hours volunteering at the hospital with the sick and elderly.
Edgar was a devoted family man who would do anything for his children. He will be sadly missed by all but lovingly remembered.

Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John, NB. Visitation will be Thursday, July 17, 2014, 2PM - 4PM and 6PM - 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 18th from The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Waterloo Street at 12:10 pm.
