The death of M. Audrey (Moore) Murphy of 87 Rivershore Dr., Saint John, wife of the late Dr. Francis E. Murphy, occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Saturday, March 21, 2015. Mrs. Murphy was born in Moncton but resided in Saint John since age 9. A daughter of the late Charles J. and Etta M. (Cooke) Moore, she graduated from St. Vincent’s Girls High School in 1944 and from Mount Carmel Academy (Commercial) in 1945. Mrs. Murphy worked as a secretary at Driscoll’s Pharmacy, Union St., Saint John for 13 years prior to her marriage. Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Catholic Women's League and St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. She was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she served in various positions in the C.W.L. and also volunteered to run and teach a kindergarten class for a number of years.
She was predeceased by an infant sister Aileen Moore, her brother Charles R. Moore and his wife, Theresa, and a brother J. William Moore. She is survived by one son Dr. Michael F. Murphy (Debra) of St. Stephen; two daughters, Dr. Marie A. Murphy of Fredericton and Margaret A. “Peggy”, Mrs. Paul J. Carvell of Saint John, one brother Donald E. Moore (Theresa) of Sussex and sister in law Mrs. Shirley Moore of Saint John and four grandsons Edward J., Raymond L. and Peter C. Carvell and Sean F. Murphy and several nieces and nephews.
Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, (634-1965), with visitation on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday March 25 at 12:00 noon from Holy Trinity Church. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. www.fitzpatrickfh.com
